Abstract:: Hajo, presently a census town in the District of Kamrup (Rural) of Assam, is located twenty-seven kilometres away from Guwahati. This is a study of the confluence of the three religions in this place, which is unique to our country. There exist temples belonging to different sects of Hinduism and Buddhism. Similarly, there is a mosque for Muslims; the site where the mosque is located is known as Poa Mecca. All the religious institutions at Hajo are visited by people professing any religion. This study deals with the socio economic lives of the people at Hajo and how it has contributed to the confluence of three religions at the place. The participation of people of different religions in the cultural festivals of each other is a major example of the confluence of three religions at Hajo. Apart from the confluence of three religions, this study also deals with the historical and archaeological background of the religious institutions at Hajo.
