Abstract: This paper would tend to highlight the adverse effect of emergence of tea as the most lucrative form of global economy. My primary interest would be to focus on the growth of tea as a form of plantation system in the regions of North Bengal and Assam during the mid- nineteenth century. This paper would like to focus on the introduction of “tea” as a form of common beverage for the entire society during mid nineteenth century in England.
