Abstract:: This abstract presents an exploration into the archaeological landscape of Uttar
Dinajpur, focusing on its historical significance from ancient times to the early medieval era.It traces the evolution of the region’s administrative divisions and discusses the interconnectedness with neighboring districts. Methodologically, the paper integrates epigraphic and archaeological sources, aiming to elucidate the urban character and spatial dynamics of ancient settlements like Asuragarh, Rāmāvatī and Jagaddala. The study proposes new insights into the locations and significance of these historical sites,emphasizing the need for further research and preservation efforts in the region
