Abstract:: The Sri Narayan Guru (1856-1928) was famous social reformer. He was one of the social reformers of South India. He was one of the Ezhavas or people of Kerala. Through social reforms, he became known as one of the fathers of social movements in India. He is one of the religious and social reformers of the 19th and early 20th century India. He dedicated his whole life for the development of lower castes. Aravipuram Movment was launched by Sri Narayan Guru on Shivaratri day of 1888. On that day, Sri Narayan Guru defied the religious restrictions traditionally placed on the Ezhava Community, and consecrated an Idol of Shiva at Aravipuram.
